Fullness of Time January 13, 2013

Dear Parents,
The Life Night for Sunday, January 13, is called "Fullness of Time". This week, we will discuss "Divine Revelation". God wants us to know Him, so He has revealed Himself in a number of ways. The fullest expression of God's revelation is in Jesus Christ, His Son. We will discuss how God's revelation is given to us both in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. This Life Night is the foundation for the topics we will be discussing in the upcoming semester. We will also learn how to pray using "Lectio Divina". This is a way of praying the Scriptures that involves active prayer and contemplation. There are 4 movements: 1. Lectio (reading a scripture passage); 2. Meditatio (meditation on a word or phrase from the scripture); 3. Oratio (journal your thoughts and prayers back to God); and 4. Comtempatio (be still and rest in God's presence).

Here are some Scripture passages that will be used during Life Night:
Jeremiah 29:11-14
John 9:1-11
1 Corinthians 9:24-25
Acts 2:42
2 Thessalonians 2:15
2 Samuel 7:5-16
Galatians 4:4-5
1 Timothy 4:12

Our topic of Sacred Scripture this semester will provide many opportunities for your family to grow in faith together. We want to encourage you to choose one or two ways that your family can begin using the Bible to pray and grow over the coming months. You may already be doing these!
Some suggestions are:
     * Reading through and discussing the readings for the upcoming Mass as a family.
     * Choose a Gospel to read through as a family. Read several verses or a chapter each night before or after dinner.
     * Put a weekly Scripture verse up on your refrigerator to reflect on. Take turns having different family members choosing and posting the Scripture verse.

If you or your teen are interested in reading more information about the topic of  "Divine Revelation", you can go to www.vatican.va and search for "Dei Verbum" or "Interpretation of the Bible in Church".

We are looking forward to this spring semester and this journey with you and your teen!

Don't forget we don't have Life Night on Sunday, January 20! We will be gone to Weekend Extravaganza.
